What the CGCA has done...
Covent Garden would not still be here if it was not for the early work of
the CGCA. All our lovely buildings, many of which are now listed, would have been demolished adn the area turned into concrete
and motorways. No one had planned where the reisident population was supposed to go!
Despite the night life, shopping and tourist attractions, Covent Garden is
a village in the heart of London. More than 6,000 people live in the area, including many young families and children. The
CGCA has instigated and/or campaigned for a number of projects over the years: The Seven Dials Housing Co-op, various
tenants associations, Seven Dials Social and Community Centre, Covent Garden Area Trust, Phoenix Community Garden, Pensioners
Day Centre, Central London Law Centre, Jubilee Hall Sports Centre, Covent Garden Business Group, and the Covent Garden Community
Trust.
How the CGCA concerns you...
The CGCA continues to play a strategic role in the future of the
Covent Garden neighborhood, with an "open door" office for advice four days a week, the monitoring of planning applications,
license applications, parking, refuse, street lighting, housing. The CGCA aims to be a neighbour - a neighbour with more than
31 years experience and skill in dealing with local authorities with specialized knowledge in various technical areas. Above
all, the CGCA remains a representatvie and energetic Association, promoting the interests of the residential and business
community.
